It pairs a 4K HDR front camera powered by the 8MP Sony STARVIS 2 IMX678 with a dedicated 2K HDR telephoto camera powered by the 5MP Sony STARVIS 2 IMX675, featuring a 35° long-focus fixed lens that delivers the equivalent of 4x optical zoom. The result: you can clearly read license plates, identify tailgaters, and document aggressive drivers several car lengths ahead — detail that a standard wide-angle camera simply cannot capture. Dual-channel HDR on both cameras, quad-mode GPS, dual-band 5GHz Wi-Fi, buffered parking mode, H.264/H.265 recording, and a CPL filter included.

The Telephoto Camera — 4x Optical Zoom via Long-Focus Fixed Lens

The telephoto camera is the defining feature of this dash cam. Its 35° long-focus fixed lens — compared to the 140° wide-angle front — provides a field of view approximately four times narrower, magnifying distant subjects without any digital zoom quality loss. HDR is active on the front camera, automatically balancing exposure across the full wide-angle view — preventing license plates from washing out in headlights and preserving detail in shadows simultaneously.

Dual Sony STARVIS 2 + Dual-Channel HDR — Both Cameras

Both the front and telephoto cameras are powered by Sony STARVIS 2 sensors — the latest generation with wider dynamic range and higher light sensitivity than the original STARVIS. The A229 Pro Tele 2CH includes built-in quad-mode GPS supporting GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and BeiDou simultaneously for fast satellite lock and accurate speed, location, and timestamp data embedded in every video file — critical for insurance claims and legal disputes. Dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz + 5GHz) enables fast video downloads and live preview via the VIOFO app (iOS & Android) without removing the SD card, so you can forward footage to police or insurers immediately after an incident.

Buffered Parking Mode + Voice Notifications

Buffered Parking Mode captures the seconds before and after any motion or impact event — not just the aftermath.
